Grillo Verde

Hello,Salvatore Grillo is and I am writing to present my activities.

My reality

I am 31 years old, after I graduated I studied environmental engineering at the University of Calabria. I live in San Calogero with my family and I decided to stay there for the chance to follow my project directly in farming.

My land stretch for about 7 hectares on the territory of San Calogero in the province of Vibo Valentia, produce and citrus are the property of my family for three generations.Our citrus cultivation was gradually formed by the work of individual citrus fruit producers, who have taken advantage of the climate and soil suitable for this crop. Thanks to all this is for three generations we grow mainly oranges.

After a period of stagnation in production activity, during which the land was provided only small necessary care not to let them grow wild, I decided to commit myself personally to revive the activities that my grandfather and my father Antonio Domenicantonio have conducted with sacrifices and dedication for more than 50 years.I consider it my duty to make the best land that until now, continued spontaneously to produce its good fruit; Therefore, my goal is to be a 'farm so he can resume' cultivation and marketing of oranges helping to raise the same time, agricultural activity in our area where the cultivation of citrus fruit is an indispensable resource given the ' objective scarcity of alternative investments in other farm sectors.

Production

My lands are divided into four plots, three of which are used to citrus, each planted with a different kind of oranges as well as to promote biodiversity, and the fourth is a young olive grove still not productive.

These soils are sites on a small promontory, a few kilometers from the sea, where our plants are kissed by the beautiful sun of Calabria, which improves the organoleptic properties of the fruit.

This year our garden (term used in Calabria, traditionally, are called citrus) more productive has produced about 10 tonnes of oranges like Tarot Gallo.

With the other two plantations produce oranges like Tarot Nucellare and Navel / Novalino.

Because the GAS

My dream is to start a company that focuses on quality and sustainable production, both from the environmental and economic point of view believing strongly on agriculture as a driver of development.

My goals are to develop the citrus production, start production of newly planted and, in the future nell'appezzamento oil, introduce the cultivation of vegetables.

I would like to adopt production methods that combine innovation and tradition so that, for example, the use of chemicals that could definitely benefit the volume of production, to the detriment, in my opinion, the quality and authenticity of the product, thus preferring more to solutions 'vanguard which fully respect the final product without altering the authenticity exalting.

These results we obtain them using traditional methods exploiting fertilizers of organic nature such as manure and / or green manure method.
