THE COOPERATIVE

The Cooperative World Solidarity NGO, is a fair trade cooperative rooted in the Marches, composed of 16 world shops and more than 3,000 members, including 300 volunteers and 5 employees. World Solidarity was born July 27, 1993 in the wake of 12 people representatives of some groups already operating in the areas of Ancona, Macerata, Fano and Fermo (Cassava in Macerata, Ujamaa in Ancona, The furrow in Fano) to promote, through the sale of products food and crafts, an alternative model of trade based on equal relations between North and South, in the full respect and promotion of fundamental human rights.

Since 1993 it is in the Marche symbol of fair trade, fair and sustainable economy, a culture of peace. World Solidarity will aim to educate citizens of the North of the World to a responsible and conscious consumption informing them of exploitation dynamics and speculation often hidden behind a product. Some of the important stages of this process were:

• the purchase of a warehouse as a reference point for fair trade products both inside and outside the region;


• starting 5 direct import projects with groups of producers in Developing Countries: EL BOSQUE Guatemala, Peru ALSI, Assema Brazil, ISS FAIR TRADERS India;


• the opening of new shops, most recently that of Matelica (22 November 2014);


• the founding of the Res - Network of Social Economy of the Marches.


• The approval of a regional law in recognition and in favor of Fair Trade in the Marche.

Solidarity world pursues the recognition of the dignity of the person in relationships and in the equal exchange between North and South and promotes a sober life and a sustainable future

A social cooperative of fair trade, structured in a democratic and participatory way, in a context of solidarity economy, which carries out:

World Solidarity is also registered at the Registry Agices (Italian General Assembly of Fair Trade).

We believe that each of us has an important role in the international economy and that today there are tools that every citizen can act responsibly for an economy of justice in which all we earn, from producer to consumer, to the environment.
