Azienda Agricola Molinari

The company aims to promote the territory of Montella through the sale of Montella chestnuts and products resulting from their processing by local partner to exclusively give producers that adhere to the specification of "Castagna di Montella" . The fund Molinari is located in Montella right in the Regional Park Picentini, at an altitude of 1000 meters, and is only accessible via a dirt road. The business area is 2 hectares with a total production of about 4 tons of chestnuts. The quality and quantity are heavily dependent on the performance of the season. While the quality is average, it maintains high, the amount is subject to strong fluctuations.The plant originally arboreal dates back to 1700, when the founders of the fact colonized the entire mountain Molinari family, they named "Top Molinari", immediately behind the Monte Terminillo (mt 1786). The mountain was the subject of grafts with local scions "Palummina" varieties that gave birth to the first fruit and vegetable product ever that in Italy has been recognized DOC the "CHESTNUT MONTELLA", and whose production is regulated by separate agreement issued on 5 -dic-1987. Subsequently on 14-Jul-1992 the EU has attached to the "Castagna di Montella" the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) . The carattestiche of the fruit are unique and make them so is the nature of the places.
