Zafferano Montefeltro

We are a family of manufacturers of Montefeltro® Saffron. Our estate comprises about 12 hectares of land and is completely dedicated to the production of organic saffron, we sell in pistils and dust.

The Italian saffron is a product of excellence, but it is not the same, each production area offers a saffron with different organoleptic characteristics based on terrain, weather conditions, and method of processing. The main differences are due to the processing methods, for example, the saffron Abruzzo and San Gimignano using the wood roasting, saffron from Sardinia undergoes a wetting process with olive oil.

The Montefeltro® of Saffron is produced according to very precise rules.

Because they prefer our Saffron? We have clear ideas about it:

• Prime quality. quality tests are available on our website, where also report the moisture level of the product and beta-carotene.
• Dried at max 45 ° C on the same day of the harvest: the properties - even medicines - Saffron thus remain intact.
• Dried and not toasted, suitable high cuisine as not contaminated with resins and wood scents. A sweet fragrance, without the smoky peaks from roasting data.
• Certified organic. We maintain the healthy zafferaneto thanks to field rotations and constant care throughout the year.
• Grown and processed at household level directly from us.
• Worked according to current sanitation regulations (under HACCP). Does it seem important? This protects not only the scent and flavor of saffron, but also your health. Most of the world production of saffron takes place in fact in places lacking the most basic hygienic precautions and controls.
• And packed into jars by hand to avoid damaging the pistils.
• A product, an ethic. We do not exploit illegal workers. In peak production periods we work firsthand even 16 hours a day just to brush and dry the product on the same day of collection.
