Tra le varietà di origano, quella siciliana è considerata come la più pregiata in assoluto, una complessità aromatica dovuta alla particolare composizione del terreno siciliano, che è ricco di minerali e presenta un mix ideale di sabbia, argilla, limo e clima soleggiato. Ricco di oli essenziali, che ne amplificano le proprietà benefiche, l’origano è un vero toccasana per il nostro organismo, contiene infatti vitamine e sali minerali, come ferro e calcio che lo rendono un rimedio naturale efficace. L’origano siciliano è dotato di un aroma molto più intenso, il suo gusto è profondo, ricco e complesso, con note che vanno dal dolce all’amaro e un retrogusto leggermente piccante e terroso, un bouquet che combina note di timo, menta, pepe e un pizzico di limone.
