Helichrysum oil is an oleolite, obtained from the maceration of the flowering tops of Helichrysum italicum in a vegetable oil, used in phytocosmetics in topical treatment.

Helichrysum boasts properties that are important for skin health:

Natural antihistamine: one of the peculiarities of the helichrysum is to be an excellent natural antihistamine to calm the symptoms of allergy in cases of dermatitis, skin rash or any other irritation affecting the skin. Helichrysum certainly does not have the power of cortisone, but it is a perfect natural remedy to soothe the symptoms of any type of allergy, or intolerance, whether it is allergy to nickel, pollen, grasses, food, dust, or to the hair of animals.
Anti-inflammatory: the helichrysum has a good anti-inflammatory action on irritated skin, especially in the case of dermatitis, eczema, herpes of all kinds, contact dermatitis, hives, skin rashes and especially on skin affected by psoriasis.
Natural tanner: Helichrysum oil can be used instead of common tanning oils as a natural tanner. It provides low protection (about 20-25) and promotes tanning while avoiding the formation of irritation or erythema. Obviously it does not protect from the sun's rays when exposed during peak hours. In case of burns from the stove, or sunburn, it can also be used as an emergency remedy to soothe the pain, but it must be said that for these situations St. John's wort oil is much more effective, which is also an excellent after-sun.
Cold hands and feet, or chilblains: the helichrysum oil is very useful even in winter in case of cold hands and feet, or chilblains, as it has the ability to reactivate the blood microcirculation.
