La calendula ha proprietà antispasmodiche, antinfiammatorie, lenitive della pelle, cicatrizzanti, coleretiche (aumenta la secrezione biliare e quindi riduce i disturbi digestivi) ed emmenagoghe (stimola l'afflusso sanguigno nell'area pelvica e nell'utero e può favorire la mestruazione). L'assunzione per via orale di infusi o decotti di calendula è particolarmente utile per combattere i dolori addominali e mestruali e in caso di colite, gastrite e ulcere.
