Il Mate, originario del Sud America , è come un agrifoglio della famiglia delle Aquifoliaceae alto fino a 15 metri con foglie sempreverdi, le quali sono essiccate e sbriciolate.
All’infuso di Mate sono attribuite numerose proprietà, le più importanti sono: aiuta l’organismo a bruciare più calorie, brucia i grassi, riduce l’appetito e attiva il metabolismo, possiede ottime proprietà diuretiche che stimolano la diuresi ai danni della cellulite, è un ottimo antiossidante e combatte l’azione dei radicali liberi.
Ha un buon contenuto di vitamine e minerali.
L’infuso di Mate è sconsigliato alle donne in gravidanza e durante l’allattamento, usato in dosi eccessive può avere effetti lassativi..
